Mnemonics
A Mnemonic is a trick to help you remember something easily.
Randomly pick two cards from a deck of 52 cards, there are 1,326
possible 2-card hands that can be created.
Too much to remember? Yeah, for most of us. Let's make it
easier. Let's disregard suits. (For ex.-A
9
= A
9
or same value). Now you have just 169 possible hands. Much
easier now because you also have nicknames for most of these
hands, aka the Mnemonics of Poker.
The idea here is simplifying the game so that you can
concentrate on other factors like tells and how other players
are playing there hands.
Refer to the "hold'em hand
nicknames chart" for jogging your brain and the "poker
lingo quiz" material if you are new to the game.
